What is a Virtual Tour?

A Virtual Tour is a string of pictures seamed together to form either a panoramic or 360-degree view of a location. At bostonhigashi.org you will find tours of the exterior of the school, as well as interiors of residence halls, classrooms and a student recreation area.

How does a Virtual Tour work?

Once you have clicked on a virtual tour image, the file, which is approximately 700k, will be downloaded to your browser. When complete, you will have an image on your screen. Using your mouse, click and drag over the image left, right, up or down. You will see the image move. Using the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons in the Quicktime movie panel, you may also zoom in or out of the movie.

Why does it take so long to download?

Each panoramic movie is approximately 700k, and usually takes 1-2 minutes to download using a 56k modem. Depending on connection speeds and because of the detailed, visual nature of the virtual tour, each Quicktime movie may take longer to download.
