The National Commission for the Accreditation of Special Education Services (NCASES) has recognized the Boston Higashi School for the completion of all the requirements for accreditation, and for demonstrating leadership and excellence in private education from June 2006 through June 2010.
Boston Higashi School is a pioneer in the deliberate and arduous process to achieve accreditation, and to become one of only two schools in Massachusetts to receive such an honor. The Boston Higashi School is recognized as a world leader in services and programs for children with autism.
NCASES was established because of a need to maintain a higher quality control within special education programs and services on a national level. Member agencies of the National Association of Private Schools for Exceptional Children established NCASES as an independent and private accrediting agency and was then made available to all special education agencies. NCASES accreditation is voluntary and relies heavily upon self-evaluation and peer review within the accreditation process. The entire accreditation process is intended to maintain and improve program quality, while preserving and encouraging innovation and diversity. The process also identifies those agencies worthy of financial support for families, schools and clinics. NCASES also assists potential families and schools in choosing a program provider that has met the rigid requirements of excellence from the NCASES evaluation.
